Nutritional Counseling

There are millions, literally millions, of overweight people in America. Most of them have tried diets, some have tried counseling, and a few have even tried hypnosis in their quest to be thin. From battery powered 'shocker belts' to surgery, people will try anything to lose those extra pounds!

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anyone on 'our side' in this battle. Unscrupulous salesmen and con-artists are all too willing to sell us 'magic potions' that don't work. All we have to do is give them some money and we lose weight without any effort! Sounds great, doesn't it? Sad to say, it never works that way.

There are two approaches toward weight management. The first is the 'magic theory'. The magic theory often incorporates restricted-calorie starvation diets, pills, hypnosis, prepackaged foods, etc. You may remember the infamous liquid diets, grapefruit diets, amphetamine diet pills, the Hollywood Diet, Scarsdale Diet Plans and most recently the 'fen-phen' diet fad.

The magic theory approach is appealing because it requires no responsibility. You simply fall into a 'system' and 'they' tell you what to do. You don't even need to think (you just need to suffer!). The system has all the answers. And if you fail, well, then it's your fault because you weren't a good dieter. The magic theory has left millions of people in hopeless despair in their never-ending quest to be thin.

Dieting in particular can be especially confusing. We all know someone that has lost some weight while on a diet. Perhaps they've even kept it off for a few years! What's wrong with that? The problem with diets is that dieting is temporary, and even worse, dieting often sabotages our long-term goals!
